QUALIFICATIONS - ESSENTIAL
Good academic record with at least 55% of the marks or,
an equivalent grade of B in the 7 point scale with
latter grades O,A,B,C,D,E & F at the Master's degree
level, in the relevant subject from an Indian
University, or, an equivalent degree from a foreign
University.
Besides fulfilling the above qualifications,
candidates should have cleared the eligibility
test (NET) for lecturers conducted by the UGC,
CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC.
NET shall remain the compulsory requirement for
appointment as Lecturer even for candidates having
Ph.D. degree. However, the candidate who have completed
M.Phil. degree by 31st December 1993 or have submitted
Ph.D. thesis to the University in the concerned subject
on or before 31st December, 2002, are exempted from
appearing in the NET examination. In case such
candidate fail to obtain Ph.D. degree, they shall have
to pass the NET examination.
However, in pursuance of interim order dated 21.05.2002
passed by the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad
in Civil Misc. Writ Petition No. 5272 of 2002 (Dr.
S.D. Quddusi and other Vs. Vice-Chancellor, Aligarh
Muslim University and others), persons who hold Ph.D. or
M.Phil. degree will be eligible to apply for, and allowed
to appear for selection of the post in Aligarh Muslim
University without requiring from them NET certificate.
This will be subject to the final decision of the
aforementioned Writ Petition.
1. A relaxation of 5% may be provided from 55% to 50% of
the marks at the Master's level for the SC/ST
category.
2. A relaxation of 5% may be provided from 55% to 50%
of the marks to the Ph.D. degree holders who have
passed their Master's degree prior to 19th September,
1991.
3. B in the 7 point scale with letter grade O, A, B, C,
D, E & F shall be regarded as equivalent of 55%
wherever the grading system is followed.
4. A relaxation of the minimum marks at the PG level
from 55% to 50% for appointment as Lecturer may be
provided to the candidates who have cleared the
JRF examination conducted by UGC/CSIR only, prior to
1989, when the minimum marks required to appear for
JRF exam. were 50%.
